There are also a few weed removal tools that are made from forged iron, but the reason I haven’t added any to my list is that they tend to be heavier, which can be tiresome to use over longer periods of time.
Stay away from dandelion weed removal tools that are made from plastic as they will crack or break easily after a short period of use. The handles of dandelion removal tools should be made from metal or wood and come with a comfortable cushioned grip.
Design and Type
The design of the best dandelion weed removal tool should provide the most leverage to remove weeds with the least amount of physical effort.
There are two types of dandelion removal tools to choose from – hand tools and standup tools. If you don’t like bending, I’d choose a standup dandelion weed removal tool but if you don’t mind getting down and dirty, a hand dandelion removal tool is a good option.
Hand dandelion removal tools should have thick handles and standup tools should come with a long shaft and a solid, wide footplate.
Speaking of standup dandelion removal tools, a release system is a good feature to have, which works by releasing the pulled weeds with the push of a release button, so you don’t have to touch the weeds.
Pay close attention to the handle length as a short handle means you’ll have to do some bending to grip and pull the dandelions and their roots.

Yes, yes, and absolutely yes!
Dandelions are just one of those plant species that anyone can identify with a single glance and people in fact once praised their blossoms and their lion-toothed leaves.
But fast forward to today and dandelions are regarded as a common perennial weed that isn’t just an eyesore when they crop up in your vibrant green lawn but can also have other detrimental effects on your lawn.

- The first thing to do before using a dandelion removal tool is to moisten the soil the night before if it hasn’t rained recently. Moistening the soil will make your job a whole lot easier and you will be able to break the dandelions from their roots instead of just breaking the top of the weeds and leaving behind the roots.
- Next, put on gardening gloves to keep your hands safe and to get a better grip on the dandelion removal tool.
