Most of us with warm-season grasses will be putting our lawn gear in dormancy to fall in line with our grass going into dormancy as well. But there are many things you should be doing to your lawns in fall to ensure that the soil stays healthy during the winter and to encourage a strong green-up next spring. These are my Top 10 ideas for fall lawn care.
1) Do Annual Maintenance
The end of summer and beginning of fall is the perfect time to do your annual maintenance on your lawn gear. Sharpen your lawnmower blades, get extra string for your trimmer, grease the chains, throw out broken equipment, etc.. Why do I suggest doing this now? The main reason is that you are already in ‘lawn care’ mode and getting these things done now, for most, is easier to do than in the spring. Plus you will start to find price discounts on lawn care items if you need to replace any for next year.
Hi, Alex K. here. Growing up I remember that my family had one of the best lawns in the neighborhood. Richly green and lush. I did a lot as I grew up in terms of caring and tending for not only my families lawn but also my neighbors. I can say I have years of experience, and I am here to share it with you.
